How to Discover Your Direction, True North and Your Passion in Life: Guidelines to Fulfill Your Passions

Your life has its direction only when your internal compass has been set properly in terms of its right orientation, or its true north.

By heading in the right direction, you are destined to find your passion in life. In other words, on the road map of your life, you may get lost if your internal compass has not been properly set and you head in the wrong direction.

Understanding what right orientation means will help you to fulfill your passion in life.

The freedictionary.com suggests that the word orientation is “the direction followed in the course of a trend, movement or development” and makes reference to “the location or position to the points of the compass”.

Because you are a unique individual with a mind of your own, it is up to you to decide which direction you will go in your life. Heading in the right direction with your compass properly set on your own true north, rather than someone else’s will ensure that you find your passion. Note that there will always be those who try to influence you and try to lead you where they are going. For you, this may be the wrong direction.

There are many factors to take into consideration when you are seeking your own true north. Some of these are genetic, while others have to do with things like location, environment, etc. Many of them relate to your education and ability to learn, as well as your will, ego and understanding of self. Still others have to do with your personal preferences and thus, you have to make choices. There are numerous factors in your life that you may not be able to control, but probably just as many that you can though life may be unpredictable.

You will discover that many people are willing and able to help you go in the right direction, as you begin to assume control of your life, for example, your parents. Parents want what is best for their children and are not likely to lead them in the wrong direction. The same is true of other family members like siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, etc. Of course, there can be exceptions.

Teachers can be a positive influence with respect to seeking and following the directives in your life, particularly those that will lead you towards the fulfillment of your goals and passions. Community leaders can also play an important role with respect to your direction in life, your true north and your passions. Being open to those who are proactive in a well-motivated, positive and constructive direction can be important in respect to your personal orientation.

Inwardly, you will probably sense when your internal compass is not set right. You may feel discontented, restless and frustrated.

Do not hesitate to change direction, even if it takes courage on your part. You may have to overcome obstacles to bring your dreams into reality. Sometimes, finding your true direction in life is not easy.

Re-orientation towards what you instinctively know will bring about the fulfillment of your passions and lead to inner peace. While you may struggle to find your way in life, your internal compass should lead you to your true north where you can fulfill your passion. It is exciting in terms of being a challenge and well worth pursuing, so never give up.
